Heritage

We record historic buildings and monuments in precise 3D, so the people who care for them can plan conservation work from accurate data.

How we do it

Most historic sites need more than one technique. At Rye House Gatehouse in Hertfordshire we combined terrestrial laser scanning for exact structural geometry, ground-based photogrammetry for visual detail, and drone photogrammetry for the upper levels and the surrounding context.

What you receive

An as-built survey mapping the dimensions, geometry and location of every element of the building, point clouds, fully textured 3D models, 2D CAD drawings and Gaussian splats that show a site within its setting. The data supports conservation decisions, virtual tourism and academic study.

Our work

For the National Trust, we produced a benchmark survey of the exterior facades and many of the interior rooms at Penrhyn Castle, the Grade I listed Neo-Norman castle above Bangor. Closer to home, we documented Great Chishill Windmill in Cambridgeshire, one of only around eight open trestle post mills left in the UK, which kept turning to face the wind throughout the survey. We have also recorded the medieval Rye House Gatehouse.

Where are you based?

Our offices are a few minutes from Stansted Airport, between London and Cambridge, and we work across the UK and abroad.

Let’s talk about your project

Whether you have a fully-defined brief or you’re exploring options, we’re happy to discuss your needs. Every project starts with understanding what you’re trying to achieve.
